@ the bungalow
*At 3:55 pm, C.T. makes it back with Sam, they barrell through the door, laughing and balance shopping bags and boxes.*
C.T. I can always count on you Bud.
C.T. : That girl wanted to go to the leather place at a quarter to four. I told her I don’t think so, your husband said you turn into a punkin at 4:00! *CT laughs*
*Sam Hawkins kisses C.T. with a peck good bye and puts away her new costume while Ronald finds a couple of steaks in the refrigerator and throws them on the grill.
*Sam Hawkins brings a bottle of scotch and two glasses with ice and they sit at the patio table.*
So what have you been up to the last few weeks?
*Sam Hawkins answers cavalierly* Just working and taking care of myself. Why?
Why? Why not? Your my wife. I haven’t talked to you in weeks. Why? What are you hiding?
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit nervous under Ronald’s scrutiny.* Ron, I’m not hiding anything. I just took some time to myself.
You haven’t gone two weeks without having sex since I have known you.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit embarrassed by Ronald’s comment.* Ron. It’s none of your business.
Oooooh. *Ronald smiles glowingly* I’m glad you got some relief while we were apart.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit confused by Ronald’s reaction.* Ronald, what do you mean?
Did you fuck? have sex? or make love with him?
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit uncomfortable by Ronald’s question.* Ronald, that’s really personal. Can we not talk about this?
Till death do us part. everything is my business with you. Nothing is too personal.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit trapped by Ron’s insistence.* Fine, Ronald. Yes, I slept with someone else.
As your husband, I don’t want anyone, and I mean anyone, to know something about you I don’t know. You’ll have to tell me everything for this to work.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit resigned to Ronald’s demands.* Ron, I’ll tell you everything. But can we please just focus on us now?
Nope! Everything first.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit frustrated by Ronald’s one-track mentality.* Ron, I need to pee. I’m using the bathroom.
Sure, I’ll watch!
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit uncomfortable by Ronald’s request.* Ronald, that’s not necessary. I can take care of myself.
I’ve lost you haven’t I? You used to let me see it and laugh about it. I feel an emptiness when I look at you now.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit saddened by Ronald’s comment.* Ron, I’m sorry if I made you feel that way. I just need some privacy sometimes.
Do me a favor will ya? *Ronald takes a big gulp of scotch*
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit uneasy by Ronald’s actions.* Ronny?, are you okay? You seem a bit rattled.
I asked you for a favor.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit hesitant but decides to humor Ronald.* Okay, what is it?
Let’s make love right now.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit surprised by Ronald’s sudden request.* Ronald, I’m not sure that’s a good idea. We just got back together, and I’m not ready for that yet.
Ok.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit disappointed by Ronald’s response.* Ron, is everything okay?
Have you noticed that all through our relationship and marriage you pretty much have things your way and me – not so much?
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit guilty by Ronald’s accusation.* Ronny, I didn’t realize it was like that. I thought we were both equal partners in our relationship.
What??!! That’s a good one! Are you that delusional? Christ Sam.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit hurt by Ronald’s harsh words.* Ronny, I’m sorry if I ever made you feel that way. I try to stay on the same page with you, but sometimes that’s hard. When I’m out doing things and a challenge presents itself, it’s my nature to go with the flow..
From now on you “go with the flow” with me. I demand it.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit turned on by Ronald’s words.* Ron, I don’t mind being your slave. In fact, I kind of enjoy it.
Nice, a slave who won’t let me touch her, and has an epic superiority complex!
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit ashamed by Ronald’s words.* Ron, I’m sorry if I’ve ever made you feel that way. I sometimes get super driven and your right , I concentrate on achieving my goals and you slip down on my priorities list.
And bty the way, don’t give me that slave nonsense, I could work with that – but I have enabled you to say no to me constantly.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit defensive by Ron’s words.* Ron, I’ve never said no to you unless it was something I wasn’t comfortable with. And even then, I try to compromise.
Dammit Sam! Everything I have asked since I walked back through that door you have said no to.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit overwhelmed by Ronald’s anger.* Ron, I’m sorry if I’ve upset you. Please calm down.
Ok, calming down is good advice, Baby. Let’s go to the Hamilton For the weekend. On me. We will tell each other anything – anything and everything about our time apart even sex. Then we can pick up where we left off.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit excited by Ronald’s suggestion.* Ronny, that sounds amazing. Let’s do it!
Your going to have to tell some stories you don’t want to. But it will be freeing.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit nervous by Ronald’s words.* Ronald, I’m not sure if I’m ready for that. Can we just take it slow and easy?
*Ron dusts the steaks with spices.* It’s Monday we are checking into the Hamilton Friday. You’ll have plenty of preparation time.
*she nods*
Funny how you haven’t ask me anything about our time apart.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit embarrassed by Ronald’s observation.* Ronny, I’m sorry if I’ve been neglecting you. Things are crazy at the club.
You used to tell everything, everything to your B.F.F. Maggie, you used to tell every detail of your life to your psych Dr. Slade. But things are “too personal” or “None of my business”. Are we just to people in the same house?
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit shocked by Ronald’s statement.* Ronald, why would you say that? We just got back together.
We are not each others world anymore. You don’t have the intense attraction you used to have for me. We never had secrets before. I wonder if your feelings for me have died.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit saddened by Ronald’s words.* Ronny, I still care about you. But I guess we don’t want the same things.
Is one of the things you want, another man?
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit hurt by Ronald’s question.* Ron, I hope you know that you mean everything to me. I would never let another man take your place.
You already did. You’d probabbly like it if we were just friends .
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit angry by Ron’s words.* Ronny? You can’t just be so dismissive of our marriage like that!
Typical selfish Samantha. You’re gonna love this news.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit curious by Ronald’s statement.* Ron, what’s the news?
*Ron rolls his eyes* on my way back here, I won some money in Laughlin and paid cash for a new car. I hate the new car. You can have it.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit surprised by Ron’s revelation.* Ronny! That’s…that’s amazing! Thank you, now I don’t feel like I’m losing so much.
You’ve had every opportunity to lose nothing. I feel like you have forgotten who I am, who I can be. I keep getting older and you somehow seem to be looking younger. I’m just not enough for you anymore and you deserve better.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit hurt by Ronald’s words.* Ron, you’re making this harder than it needs to be. Can’t we just agree to disagree and get on with our life together?
yes ma’am.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit frustrated by Ron’s response.* Ronny, can we at least try to be civil towards each other? We’re married.
I’m a grown man. I’ll be ok Sammi.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit disappointed by Ronald’s response.* Ron, I just want us to be able to talk to each other without all the animosity. Can’t we just try to be friends?
Oh hell no. If I cant be with you sexually, I am out.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit disgusted by Ronald’s words.* Ronny, that’s not cool. You’re not going to treat me like some kind of object!
You are an object. My object. My lover. My best friend. My partner and I will never have a plutonic friendship with you. *Ronald laughs heartily* You can cheat with me on the new guy!
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit offended by Ron’s words.* Ronald, I don’t want to hear any more of your sex fantasies. Just leave me alone with that stuff.
I mate for life!
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit scared by Ron’s words.* Ron, please stop saying things like that. You’re making me really uncomfortable.
*Ron flips through some photos.* I’m going to keep these pictures.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit relieved by Ron’s words.* Ronny, I don’t care as long as they’re tasteful and respectful, and they are for your eyes only, I don’t see why not.
You gotta be fuckin’ kidding me! Some of these pics shock even me. And I took ’em! You were… are a nasty girl! And I loved you for it. Wait ’til the guys see these!
*Sam Hawkins giggles.* Jezis.
*Ronald looks through the pictures.*
God you are perfect.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit flattered by Ronald’s compliment.* Ronny, thank you. That means a lot coming from you.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit confused by Ronald’s words.* Ron, what do you mean? Are you having second thoughts about the just being friends thing?
*Ronald looks puzzled.* Wasn’t that your idea? Anyway, When I am around you my brain goes on vacation.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit touched by Ronald’s words.* Ronny, that’s really sweet of you to say. I feel the same way about you.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit hopeful by Ron’s question.* Ronny, I really hope so. We’ve been through too much together to be just friends now.
*Ronald is chewing his steak.* I almost left you over the phone from Vegas. But being here with you I feel that old love, lust, and pride again.
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit hopeful by Ronald’s words.* Ronny, I feel the same way. Maybe there’s still a chance for us to work things out?
Sam?
If we do this, can you please just loosen up a little? Remember how we used to be fearless, even a bit reckless? Let’s stop acting so seriously. What do you say?
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit excited by Ron’s suggestion.* Ronny, I like where you’re going with this. Let’s have some fun… soon!
Realistically we will never have what we had before. But it might be fun trying!
*Sam Hawkins feels a bit intrigued by Ron’s words.* Ronny, I think that’s a great idea. Let’s go back to how we were before. No rules, no boundaries. Just us. *Sam looks at the clock.* Six o’clock. Still time.
*Ronald speaks to himself* Doris was a bunny I got for easter as a kid. She lived in the yard, was happy hopped around, and knew what home was, but she kept wandering out of the yard and I had to go get her and bring her back. Sometimes I know she ditched me to get out in the world. But what I loved about Doris is she always made it home.
